June Vlog

So I LOVED doing the April Vlog and then didn't get to do the May one, but I'm back and excited to be posting.  As usual the monthly vlog is hosted by Mamarazzi and Seriously Shawn.  You should check it out, spread the love, and get in front of the camera yourself...it's a lot of fun!

This month we've got a question from fellow blogger Becca @ The Texas Darlings:

What are your Summer plans?

So tell us...what you are going to be doing this Summer. Will you be traveling? Visiting a special place that you always visit each Summer? Loading up your Kindle and sitting on the beach or by the pool? How will Summer be different than any other time of year for your family? Spill it!

Mom Monday- I swear I'm an adult!

So for those of you who don't already know, I'm a scientist.

No seriously, I really am...

See I look at these fancy green-blue blobs (DA transient) and determine the concentration of said blob.

I write it on my incredibly interesting data sheet and then enter it into a spreadsheet to do all that statistical magic.

Oh, and I write all of that down with this...

Did I mention I was the mom of two girls??

Craft Day- Caterpillar Crazy

Mondays are craft day at our house and with a three year old this can be quite an adventure.

I saved an old egg carton and paper towel roll this past week.  This is what we did with it.

Ignore the lack of pants- we were about to go nap and who likes sleeping in pants?

Wild animal binoculars and caterpillars.

Elizabeth LOVES the caterpillars...she took them to nap with her and ended up reading them a story.

The story??

The Very Hungry Caterpillar, of course!

Elizabeth Juice

So I've always been very open about breastfeeding with Elizabeth.

I don't think there is anything shameful about it and want to encourage her to see it as a normal thing.  I can't tell you how many kids get confused when you tell them your baby doesn't drink from a bottle.

It's not that I have a problem with bottle feeding, far from it, I just don't like negative stigmas around something that is totally normal.

Anyway, that's another post...onto the funnies.

I was nursing Evie and Elizabeth came by and sat down with me.  She had a stuff baby Eeyore.

She looked at me and lifted her shirt.  She then put Eeyore on her belly button.

"Look at me Mommy, I'm feeding Eeyore" said Elizabeth.

My husband saw this and chuckled.  "Does Eeyore like Mommy-milk too?" he asked her.

"No, he doesn't like Mommy-milk." said Elizabeth.

"So he likes Elizabeth-milk?" I asked.

"N-O-O-O. He likes Elizabeth JUICE!" she said.

Wow, I have a child that produces juice for donkeys...and that was even more weird to type than you think.  Maybe I shouldn't be so open with the nursing...

Oh and if you are wondering, Elizabeth Juice takes like peaches.  At least that's what she told me. ;)

I confess that I'm not Super Mom, but I wish I was...

It's that time of the week, time to confess all those things that make life fun, annoying, and everything in between.  So after enjoying my lovely confessions, head on over to Mamrazzi  to read everyone's confessions or to join in and confess yourself.

I confess,
I wish I had a clone of me.

Someone who could just do the housework or my part time job.

Just one thing, because then I could manage the other five things that need to get done...in that MOMENT.

I confess,

I'm trying my best to let messes lie, so that I can spend play time with my girls.

They are only little once, and I want to sing, play, laugh, and get messy with them.

So someone else is going to have to do the laundry, or I need to just forgo sleep.

I confess,

That I looked at our summer schedule and we are SUPER BUSY.  I'm seriously going to need a major break.

M- craft day at home- this usually involves paint- so the second half of my day I clean up paint. ;)

T- Kindermusik for BOTH girls.  One is at 9:30 the other 5:30, in between I work and the girls hang out with Grammy.  It makes for a LONG day.

W-Shopping day- usually just grocery shopping, but errand day too.

R- Summer reading program at the library.

F- FUN day- which means museum, theme park, parks, or splash pad!

I confess,

Elizabeth is starting to have her dolls talk to each other now, and I stand outside her room and listen.

It's adorable, and I hear myself "talking" quite a bit.

Confused?  I'll give you an example-

"Now Belle, it's time to go night-night."

"Not yet, my darling.  I need to go to work first."

Can you guess which phrases I use??

I confess,

That I think Evie is in a growth spurt and is more fussy than usual because of it.

So when she falls asleep in the afternoon, I LET her sleep as long as she wants.

My mom always says, "you never wake a sleeping baby".

Guess what?  She's. Right.

I confess,

That this past Tuesday, I danced the polka with a 3 month old.

Yes, I said the polka.

And yes, I did also say 3 month old.

Just chalk it up to another weird thing that I never thought I would do as a mom...but yet I have done it.

My little Polka Dancer.

I confess,

That one of the other moms at Kindermusik is just a little too perky and put together for my taste.

I mean, I'm all for a positive attitude, but I'm lucky I made it there at all, let alone dressed, and if I am really lucky with cute top rather than one of my raggedy old t shirts and a pair of jeans.

She on the other hand has full makeup, a cute outfit that includes high heels with her matching shorts, and is chatting up anyone who can hear about her baby.

It's a little much and yes, I feel bad to say that too.

I confess,

I proudly invented a mommy badge yesterday by mistake.

You see we did some crafts yesterday because Summer reading doesn't start until next week.  I had some stickers on my shirt.

I forgot it was on my shirt and went through the drive through...but I figure it was just proof I was a mommy.

Hence the Mommy badge.

I confess,

That I was the ONLY mom that didn't have socks on their baby at Kindermusik.

I felt like an enormous failure.

Then again, I was the only second time mom there and it was 97 degrees outside.

That kind of heat makes socks a little redundant.

At least that's what this mom thinks...and if you don't believe me just check out the mommy badge. ;)

Naked Time!

So Elizabeth was in the bath tub, and I brought her two bath dolls.  One is Belle and the other is a Barbie Mermaid.

She was splashing around with them and then asked me, "Mommy, could you bring me Prince Philip?".

Elizabeth is a Disney Princess girl, so she knows all the characters and thanks to my family she has all the dolls too.

"Elizabeth, I can't bring Prince Philip.  He's not a bath toy, he doesn't know how to swim" I answered.

"Mommy, can you get Prince Philip naked?" she replied.

Naked???  I had to laugh, mainly because I'm not so sure Sleeping Beauty would approve of of Prince Philip having a naked dip in the tub with Belle and Barbie.

Prince Philip- you player!! ;)

Three Months Old!

So today my sweet baby is three months old!!  Time has been flying by...

I have to say, Evie has really come into her own.  She has a sweet temperament the majority of the time, but if you're a little slow to the nursing- she let's you know.

She smiles all the time now, is "talking", and even laughs at us.

She can almost roll onto her belly, I won't be surprised if she does that soon.

I'm sad that she will soon be big enough to come out of the bassinet and move into her crib bed.  While there probably won't be any late night or early morning feedings, it also means my sweet infant is growing up.

When you're young, time seems to go so slowly and you wish your life away.  As you get older, you try to grasp onto all the wonderful moments, wishing you could stop time to enjoy that stage in your child's life just one more time.

Here's to a wonderful three months with my precious girl!  I look forward to all that is ahead, even though it will go much too quickly for me.
